Asians and Friends offers a treat at Cleveland Pride

Cleveland--Like other gay Asian-nonAsian groups around the world, Asians and Friends Cleveland will add a bit of the exotic far east to Pride parades in Cleveland and Columbus.

After a brief hiatus, Asians and Friends has brought back its booth at the Cleveland festival, offering a special treat to anyone willing to bare a little skin. Dragons and a huge rainbow flag will grace Euclid Avenue and High Street with beauty, color, and flair.

Asians and Friends Cleveland exists to provide social opportunities and support to

gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Asians and those interested in Asians and Asian culture.

Cleveland has been dubbed the Far East of the Great Midwest in part due to the high visibility of the club.

Asians and Friends Cleveland annually hosts the largest known Chinese New Year event in Ohio in the heart of Cleveland's Chinatown. The group also participates and promotes annual Asian Pacific Heri-

tage Month events at the Cleveland Lesbian and Gay Center each May.

Members will join Black and White Men Together August 1-5 in bringing a bit of Cleveland ethnic style to Montreal's Pride Festival.

Asians and Friends Cleveland has become one of the most active and prominent GLBT social groups in Ohio. But despite a very active social calendar, one of the biggest sources of pride for the group over the last year is that four more members have or soon will be sworn in as American citizens and have registered to vote for gayaffirming public officials.

Following the Cleveland parade and festival, Asians and Friends will hold its annual beach party and cookout at a great location on Cleveland's Emerald Necklace.

Visit Asians and Friends Cleveland at its new web site at http://members.aol.com/ afcleveland/ or call for information at 216226-6080 ext.3.
